First Impressions

I love this photo. It is that look I first get when meeting a child at a photo shoot. It says so much.
It says, I am not sure I trust you but I think we can have fun together. Maybe I might like you,
but know I have limits. And it says, I think I am curious what is going to happen.
I see all of that in this photo.

Here's to kids.

Charlie & Katie's Wedding, a little preview

Charlie happens to be one of my favorites names since I was 10. I have named a cat
(@10 years old) and my pug (10 years ago) Charlie. I met this Charlie, 4 years ago on 9-8-07
when I photographed his sister Becky's wedding. Becky is an awesome photographer
as well. Becky is the pretty curly head lady holding the little boy, her son, with Katie
the bride. I first met Katie at Starbucks with her mom in August, on a stressful day of
having my daughter's new kitty almost destroyed by one of our dogs. Meeting Katie
and her mom made my day, and totally took my mind off my troubles.
Katie's mom kept sending Katie out so we could talk secrets. On of which was about
the antique Bentley her parents surprised her with when she exited the church.
I love antique cars, especially for the aesthetics, and after the wedding party and family
pictures were finished I was so excited to take pictures with the car. After about 20 minutes
of Bentley in the view finder along Katie & Charlie, Katie says to me "I don't know Sharyn but
I think I am all set with the car pictures". Then she says with her awesome
humor "I am more of a HOG kind of girl anyway."
Right. Point taken. Let me get out of my fantasy head and get back in to theirs. We then went
around the Old Port and came back to Grace for 6:30 reception.
Which was I will blog about later.
Pictures shown here are what I grabbed off my hd and took with me on my mini vacation to Santa Monica this weekend. No real rhyme or reason to the selection.
I have not poured my attention over all the shots yet. That actually takes week for me to do,
because when I jump into the cave of developing pictures, it sucks me in and
I don't come out for awhile.
Hence shooting and developing can not happen simultaneously.

More to come of this awesome awesome wedding. Awesome because of the people and what they brought to it. Often people ask me what are my favorite weddings as if the cool decorations,
awesome lighting or location makes the day. Awesomeness, to me, which is not in the material
details, but in the personality people bring, is through stories. And stories are easily brought back
to life when someone
looks at a picture, and remembers.

That's why I love my job.
