A wedding in the winter in Maine is like candy. A real treat. Stephanie a beautiful school teacher from Oxford Hills Maine, married a handsome athlete Matthew from Enfield. The wedding ceremony took place at their small church in downtown Lincoln. I drove by it 3 times when scouting, there was no sign, no big steeple. But what goes on inside may make even the least of church goers want to get up and go back. I will say that while shooting the ceremony and trying to be discreet I heard this voice singing, and I was like wait, I see a drummer, but is this a live voice or a recording? It was the kind of beat that makes you want to get up and dance and the kind of singing that can give you goose bumps. That to me, is Church music. I grew up Catholic, and we had nothing like that. And who would have thought there was such soulful talent right here in a small Town in Northern Maine. One of my personal favorite aspects of the day. The other was the cooperative "wedding party" aka, the Special people. They got to the designated shooting location all on their own, down the street, in front of the paper mill. My shots of Stephanie and Matthew on Main St in front of Mardens is another of my favorites. Growing up in Maine, Marden's is a special place, dear to may of our hearts. The store where a guy can dig through random bins and find tools for less than $10 and girls can find orange and red BCBG skirts for even less.
Speaking of fashion, Stephanie wore 2 dresses on her Big Day. They both came from Avanti Bridal Salon in Lincoln Maine, a little gem of a store. The "fit and flare" wedding gown was sleek white satin with Swarvoski Crystals and sequins, and the reception dress was royal blue raw silk by Jovani fashions. Rheta the owner came out and helped Steph get into both dresses, awesome service. Capello Hair Studio also provided excellent service and accommodations that morning.
Steph looked beautiful, take a look at the previews.
Cheers to Stephanie and Matthew!
