Maine Maple Sugar, Sticky Sweet Love, these are some of the names Meagan and I tossed around surrounding this shoot. Maine Maple Sugar is featured in this year's Maine Magazine Wedding Issue. This is what Meagan had hoped for a year ago when we did this shoot! Problem is, Meagan's name got switched out for another awesome wedding vendor Emily Carter ( Emily Carter Floral Designs). Mistakes happen, but with all the time and money spent in a style shoot, I want to make sure Meagan gets proper recognition beyond a retraction in the Magazine.
The idea behind this shoot, like most "style shoots", is to create and photograph ideas that maybe to out there to logically be implemented in full at a wedding of 125 guests. The Maple Theme comes from Meagan and I 's love for the process of making maple syrup, the look of the trees in March, the sugary quality snow, the boots you have to wear, the old dishes.. it is all a part of both our memories growing up in Maine and making syrup with our Dads. Meagan in Topsham Maine, me in Liberty Maine. I always fantasized that My Dad would buy draft horses to pull buckets of sap from the woods. But my Dad repeatedly told me horses eat money, in that most frugal and practical Maine way of thinking. So I really wanted horses at our shoot, when we were researching where to do this shoot, that was high on my list. It wasn't exactly an easy sell to anyone who makes syrup. " hey we want to come take over your farm for a day and take pictures as is we had a wedding... great idea right!" Yah right. If any of you know Maine farmers, doing an awesomely creative photo shoot is not top on their priority list.
So when the farmer ( which wants to remain anonymous) brought out their horses to smooth out the muddy driveway, I had to get some shots. The horses obliged and were awesome.
